Uefa to commission independent valuation of Infantino World Cup sale plan

Uefa is planning to commission an independent valuation of Fifa's World Cup sale plans, after concerns that Gianni Infantino agreed to sell the tournament's future profits to a private equity firm at below the market rate, according to The Guardian.

The European governing body is unmoved by the written apology issued by Infantino to Fifa's 211 member associations on Tuesday after crisis talks in Morocco. Uefa will continue to push for his removal, with their tactics including further scrutiny of a proposal the president belatedly conceded was 'a mistake.'

The independent valuation is expected to be a key part of that effort, as Uefa seeks to determine whether the potential deal would have shortchanged football's governing body. The Guardian reports that the matter remains a source of serious unease within European football's leadership.
