The GuardianGlasner warns Manchester City saga could damage Premier League integrity
Oliver Glasner, the manager of Nottingham Forest, said the Premier League’s reputation has been harmed after the ruling that Manchester City used sham contracts to artificially inflate its income by more than £900 million.
Speaking to The Guardian, Glasner stressed that the most important issue is “the integrity of the league” and warned that a prolonged dispute could see supporters “switch off” if the competition is seen as compromised.
He urged the governing bodies to bring the saga to a swift conclusion, arguing that any delay only deepens the damage to the league’s brand worldwide.
Glasner added that the Premier League will now have to work hard to rebuild its image and reassure clubs, sponsors and fans that the competition remains fair and transparent.
The Forest boss’s comments come as the football community watches how the authorities will handle the fallout from the financial misconduct findings.
