The GuardianBarcelona weigh Rodri move as Real Madrid talks stall
Real Madrid’s attempt to sign Rodri from Manchester City has stalled, with the Spain captain yet to agree personal terms after weeks of talks. According to The Guardian, Barcelona are now considering whether to challenge Real’s pursuit of the midfielder.
Manchester City are willing to let Rodri leave for around £60m, although they have not given up hope of convincing him to sign a new contract after he entered the final year of his current deal. Rodri captained Spain to World Cup success and remains a key figure at the Etihad.
Barcelona have been frustrated in their efforts to persuade Atlético Madrid to sell Julián Álvarez, and they are now hoping to take advantage of Real Madrid’s inability to close a deal for Rodri. Whether they formalise their interest may depend on their own financial headroom and the player’s preference.
