Leeds fight back to sink Liverpool 4-2 in Chicago friendly

According to The Guardian, Leeds produced a stirring second-half comeback to beat Liverpool 4-2 in a friendly at Soldier Field in Chicago. Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored twice, with Brenden Aaronson and Sean Longstaff also on target during a frenetic 25-minute spell that turned the match on its head.

Liverpool led 2-0 at half-time, with Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak impressing as Andoni Iraola's ideas appeared to be taking shape in the United States. Their pre-season tour had started with three straight wins, but the momentum vanished after a series of changes at the break.

The drop-off was drastic once Wirtz, Isak, Trey Nyoni and Rio Ngumoha left the field. Leeds exploited Liverpool's failure to deal with set-pieces and the disruption caused by the substitutions, exposing a fragility that Iraola will want to address before the season begins.

For Daniel Farke's side, it was a convincing statement in pre-season, and highlights of the match can be found on this site.
