The GuardianChelsea fined £10m by FA and handed suspended transfer ban
According to The Guardian, Chelsea have been fined £10m by the Football Association and handed a suspended transfer ban for multiple breaches of transfer regulations between 2009 and 2022, during the previous ownership regime.
The punishment follows a similar sanction from the Premier League earlier this year. The breaches involved the use of unlicensed agents and attempts to obscure the nature of transfer dealings. Deals involving Samuel Eto'o, Eden Hazard and Willian were among those found to have broken the rules.
The FA commission originally imposed a stronger sanction that included a suspended six-point deduction, but that was overturned on appeal. The club, which admitted secret payments by the previous regime, will now face the suspended transfer ban if further infractions occur. Fans can find related match highlights on this site.
