The GuardianCarabao Cup second-round draw: Chelsea host Luton, Forest at home to Leeds
Chelsea have been handed a home draw against League One Luton in the second round of the Carabao Cup, according to The Guardian. Five-time winners of the competition, Chelsea have not lifted the trophy since 2015, and new manager Xabi Alonso will begin the club’s latest attempt later this month.
Fellow Premier League side Tottenham also benefit from a home draw, facing Championship opposition in Charlton. Preston North End will host Everton, while Nottingham Forest entertain Leeds United in an all-Premier League tie.
The draw also produced Brentford away at Birmingham City, and Ipswich Town at home to Leicester City in another all-Championship clash. The matches are scheduled to take place in the week commencing August 26, with related highlights available on this site after the games.
