The GuardianCrystal Palace and Everton agree Johnson-McNeil swap deal
Crystal Palace and Everton have agreed a straight swap involving Brennan Johnson and Dwight McNeil, according to The Guardian. The move comes six months after McNeil's proposed move to Selhurst Park collapsed, with his partner accusing Palace of “messing with the winger's mental health”.
Johnson joined Palace from Tottenham in January for £35m, making him the club's record signing at the time. That mark was later surpassed by the arrival of Jørgen Strand Larsen from Wolves for an initial £43m.
Both players are understood to have agreed four-year contracts with the option of a further 12 months, and are expected to undergo medicals on Monday. As part of the agreement, Palace are said to have taken a financial hit on the £35m they paid for Johnson just a few months ago.
McNeil now gets the move to Selhurst Park that was aborted six months ago. Readers can find related match highlights on this site.
