Nothing impossible for NI on long road to Brazil

In a recent interview with BBC Sport NI, defenders Nat Johnson and Rebecca Holloway spoke about their dream of guiding Northern Ireland to its inaugural Women's World Cup, a goal that would see the squad travel to Brazil for the tournament.

The pair stressed that while the path is challenging, they believe “nothing is impossible” for a team that has made steady progress in recent years. Their confidence comes as the side prepares for the upcoming play‑off round that determines the final World Cup berths.

Johnson highlighted the importance of cohesion and experience, noting that the squad’s growing belief and the support of fans have been crucial. Holloway added that the team’s defensive resilience will be key against stronger opposition in the play‑offs.

The Northern Ireland women’s team, still without a World Cup appearance, will aim to build on their recent performances and hope to secure a historic qualification. Fans can follow match highlights on this site as the journey unfolds.
