'Nothing can take my attention' - Ward on World Cup and Villa link

Carla Ward, who took charge of the Republic of Ireland women's team last year, told BBC Sport that "nothing is tempting" her away from her role as the squad prepares for a crucial World Cup qualifying double‑header against Kazakhstan later this month.

The Irish side will meet Kazakhstan in two back‑to‑back fixtures, a format that leaves little room for distraction. Ward highlighted the importance of continuity and concentration, stressing that the players need a stable environment to deliver the performances required to stay in contention for the tournament.

Ward also acknowledged her past connection with Aston Villa, where she spent time earlier in her coaching career. She said the link is a source of pride, not a pull, and confirmed that her commitment remains with the Republic of Ireland as they chase their World Cup ambitions.
