Defensive reinforcement now Arsenal's clear priority after Dortmund defeat

Arsenal's 2-3 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the Emirates Cup on Sunday exposed the same defensive issues that have been lingering. Conceding three goals for the second consecutive match, Mikel Arteta's side again looked vulnerable at the back.

According to Mirror Football, the result and the latest setback in the club's attempts to sign Vinicius Jr have clarified the priority before the transfer window closes. While the Brazilian winger appears out of reach, the more pressing concern is strengthening the defensive line.

The Gunners have now shipped three goals in back-to-back games, underlining the need for a commanding presence in defence or defensive midfield. Arteta will be aware that without improvements at the back, a renewed title challenge could quickly derail. Conceding at this rate is simply not sustainable for a side with top ambitions.

With the new season fast approaching, the focus at the Emirates appears to have shifted. The club is expected to turn their attention to defensive reinforcements before the deadline, with that area of the squad now the clear priority.
