Como have sparked a dispute with their supporters after introducing a series of new stadium rules, including the threat of season-ticket revocation for fans who miss too many home games. According to The Guardian, the Serie A club — last season's surprise package, who qualified for the Champions League for the first time — said on Monday that supporters who miss more than three home matches without what the club considers a valid reason risk having their season tickets revoked.

The club, coached by former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fàbregas, also said fans would no longer be allowed to wear the opposing team's shirts or scarves anywhere in the stadium except in the away section. The measures have angered supporters, with some quoted in the report saying “they are terrified” by the new policy.

The club's chairman has defended the new rules, though the Guardian report gives no further detail on his argument. The controversy comes as Como prepare for their first Champions League campaign after a remarkable rise, and the club will hope the row does not overshadow their historic season.
